You're a guard for the kingdom of Herana, a bloody coup is happening and you narrowly escape through the sewers. You now need to meet up with your family by travleing west to a place called Yerdan. This is Grand Soul Story, a new indie RPG from solo developer Jeremy Reineck, and to break this whole thing down I am joined by my good friend Chris Coplien from the Retro Hangover podcast.

For full disclosure we did recieve review copies of this game for review and overall? We had a good time! We talk about the battle mechanics, the visuals, the music, what it was like playing a game in early access and much more. There is a spoiler section in this episode which begins at 1:29:19.

What happens when you design a whole game around secrets? How do you make those secrets accessible but fair and challenging to discover? How to you pace out those discoveries to keep the player interested the whole way through? This week on the show I am joined by games journalist Jill Grodt of the Indie Informer to talk about a game that not only answers these questions but sets the standard for how to answer them. We are discussing the indie game Tunic, a wonderful action adventure game from solo game developer Andrew Shouldice and the Tunic Team. Jill and I break down this incredible game over 2 hours and still barely scratch the surface of what it has to offer. I don't normally say this in the episode description but this game is VERY much worth playing before you listen to this episode.

Some games you play because they make your heart race in excitement, others are played to scare you out of your pants, but there are also a ton that are played because they relax you. I like wearing pants so I prefer the last one. This week on the show I am joined by author and games journalist Ryan Janes to discuss his recently released book "The Most Relaxing Video Games". We talk about his inspiration for the book, his selection process and also what his preferred medium to color with is! Make sure you go check out Ryan and his book in the links below.
